Belle and Sebastian, Scotland's sensational indie and folk artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Tabernacle Atlanta!
Belle and Sebastian were formed in Glasgow (Scotland) in 1996 by Stuart Murdoch and Stuart David. The band currently consists of Stuart (vocals, electric and acoustic guitar, and keyboards), Stevie Jackson (vocals, electric and acoustic guitar), Chris Geddes (keyboards), Richard Colburn (drums and percussion), Sarah Martin (keyboards, electric and acoustic guitar, violin, flute and vocals), Bobby Kildea (guitar and bass), and Dave McGowan (bass, guitar, and keyboards). Over the years, their musical style has spanned the genres indie pop (a subgenre of alternative/indie rock originating in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and differing from indie rock to the extent that it’s more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst free), folk rock (a style that arose in the United States and the United Kingdom around the mid 1960s, pioneered by the Los Angeles band the Byrds, who began playing traditional folk music and songs by Bob Dylan with rock instrumentation, in a style heavily influenced by the Beatles and other British bands), and chamber pop (a subgenre of indie rock that developed in the mid 1990s as a reaction against the fuzz distortion and lo fi aesthetic prominent in alternative music). They’ve had a stellar career with 9 studio albums and 3 compilation albums.
