Greensky Bluegrass

21st October 2017 - Saturday 20:00

Greensky Bluegrass, Michigan’s sensational Progressive bluegrass and jam band artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Tabernacle Atlanta!

The band was formed in Kalamazoo (Michigan) in 2000 by Michael Arlen Bont (banjo), Dave Bruzza (guitar), and Paul Hoffman (mandolin). They began their musical journey by doing living room shows and performing at open mic nights across the Midwest. Their musical style falls under the category of progressive bluegrass and they’ve created a unique sound that blends the acoustic stomp of a string band with the rule breaking spirit of rock and roll. The band’s been through a few line up changes over the years and it currently consists of Anders Beck (dobro), Michael, Dave, Mike Devol (upright bass), and Paul. They’ve had a stellar career with 9 studio albums and Paul describes their latest one (Shouted, Written Down and Quoted) in an interview, “You can call us an acoustic ensemble, or a drum-less rock band, or a rock and roll bluegrass band. All of that shifting identity has taught us to cover a lot of ground. There's a flow to this album, just like there's a flow to our set lists. There are some aggressive, rocking moments. Some bouncy, funky moments. An acoustic think piece or two. It's a balance of moods and textures that we create as a band, almost like a mix tape.”
