Grizzly Bear, New York’s sensational indie rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Tabernacle Atlanta!
Grizzly Bear started off in 2002 as a solo project of songwriter Ed Droste. He said in an interview, “It was just like doing a little home project, and I thought "oh, this is fun, I'm just going to call this stuff Grizzly Bear. [...] Our name was actually just a nickname for an old boyfriend of mine.” After releasing Grizzly Bear’s debut studio album (Horn of Plenty), Ed recruited drummer Christopher Bear, bass guitarist and producer Chris Taylor, and guitarist and vocalist Daniel Rossen to turn the project into a band. Their musical style is best described as a blend of indie rock, folk rock, psychedelic pop (a style in which musical characteristics associated with psychedelic music are applied to pop songs - this includes "trippy" effects such as fuzz guitars, tape manipulation, sitars, backwards recording, and Beach Boys style harmonies), neo psychedelia, art rock (a subgenre of rock music that generally reflects a challenging or avant-garde approach to rock, and is often distinguished by the use of electronic effects and easy listening textures far removed from the propulsive rhythms of early rock), and experimental. They’ve had a stellar career with 4 studio albums, 8 singles, and 5 extended plays. Their latest album (Painted Ruins) comes out in August 2017.
Don’t miss your chance to see the acclaimed indie artists whose ambitious, experimental aesthetic belies their gorgeous sound and intricate arrangements!
