Sylvan Esso, North Carolina's sensational electro pop and indie pop artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Tabernacle Atlanta!
Sylvan Esso was formed in Durham (North Carolina) in 2013 and is a collaboration between singer and songwriter Amelia Meath (of the critically acclaimed indie folk rock trio Mountain Man) and electronic producer Nick Sanborn (who performs under the moniker Made of Oak and also plays bass with rootsy psych-rockers Megafaun). They decided to work together after Nick made an amazing remix of Play It Right; a Mountain Man song Amelia had written. Their musical style is best described as a blend of electro pop (a fusion of electronic music and pop music - with primary usage of synthesizers and various electronic and pop musical instruments - often with simple, catchy hooks and simple dance beats, but differing from those of electronic dance music genres in that songwriting is emphasized over simple danceability) and indie pop (a subgenre of alternative/indie rock originating in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and differing from indie rock to the extent that it’s more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst free). They’ve had a stellar career with 2 studio albums, 6 singles, and they’ve performed at many renowned events such as Coachella and Austin City Limits.
